Welcome to the Alresford Decorative and Fine Art Society’s website. Whether you are one of our 300 members or a visitor we hope you will find this site interesting, informative and easy to use.
We are one of 360 societies throughout the UK and Europe affiliated to the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS). We meet at 2pm on the fourth Tuesday of the month in Itchen Abbas Village Hall Our objective, through inspiring lectures, visits, study days and heritage projects, is to broaden our knowledge and enjoyment of the decorative and fine arts with like minded friendly people.
Our lecturers are chosen for their knowledge, presentational skills and entertainment value. They speak on a wide variety of topics: architecture, artists and designers, china, glass, furniture, jewellery, music , painting and much much more, covering ancient history to modern times. After the lecture you can chat with members over a cup of tea and biscuit.
Our visits include country houses, exhibitions, gardens and places of interest. For those who enjoy hearing about a subject in greater depth, we have Special Interest Days which enables the topic to be presented in more detail. The committee provides a tasty snack lunch.
Members can get involved in their local heritage via church recording and church trails, Young Arts and other heritage projects.
We've added two new features:
